Mid Atlantic Sturgeon Restoration Partnership

A The objective of the Partnership is to leverage varied expertise and resources to generate and communicate information that improves the welfare of sturgeon and guides future restoration efforts. Partners include:

  • Identify methods to train wild fish collected from the Delaware River/Chesapeake
  • Bay onto commercial diets to assist in developing a captive population
  • Conduct studies to advance hatchery technology
  • Evaluate larval and juvenile nutrition and feeding strategies
  • Demonstrate sex determination technology
  • Evaluate pre-release conditioning techniques
  • Evaluate bio-indicator potential and tagging technology
  • Build on cryopreservation technology
  • Continue development of broodstock management plan
  • Develop habitat assessment techniques to identify target tributaries
  • Investigate need for streamside culture facilities to insure imprinting
  • Investigate DNA markers to ID hatchery fish
  • Conduct test releases and evaluate performance of released fish
